Clarksville Fire responded to an illegal burn on April 17 after neighbors reported a large fire in the backyard of 53-year-old Paul Button. Clarksville Fire arrived and requested police assistance. As police arrived, Button pulled back the blinds on a second-story bedroom window and pointed an AR-15 rifle at police and fire personnel. He eventually exited the front door with his hands raised and laid on the ground. Once they attempted to detain him with handcuffs, he resisted arrest and would not give up his hands. After a struggle, he was taken into custody. Button told police he had been drinking during the day and was upset. Inside the home, officers retrieved an AR-15 and a Glock handgun, both with rounds chambered and full magazines.

Paul Steven Button of Mcmanus Circle in Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on April 17th, charged with seven counts of aggravated assault against a first responder and resisting arrest. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $145,000.
