Shayne Davis strangles ex-wife, points shotgun at her during argument

37-year-old Shayne Davis was involved in a domestic altercation with his ex-wife, Destinee Cleek, at their Dover Road residence on May 22nd. When officers arrived on the scene, no one was there, so they contacted William Cleek, Destinee’s husband. He informed officers that Destinee had told him that Davis had assaulted her. Officers then told William that since the assault happened to Destinee, they would have to speak to her. Cleek stated that officers would need to find Destinee at the Walmart on Dover Road because she didn’t have a phone. When officers arrived at Walmart, they contacted Destinee, who was sitting in a red Jeep Grand Cherokee with her children. When questioned, Destinee told officers that she did not want Davis to get in trouble since he was the father of her children.

Shortly after, Destinee tells officers she went inside her house and found Davis sleeping on a couch. She stated that they nicely greeted each other shortly before an argument started. According to Destinee, Davis got up, pulled out a shotgun, cocked it back, and pointed it at her. Once she told him that she was going outside to get some fresh air, he put the gun down. After coming back inside and asking Davis what was wrong with him, Destinee proceeded to attempt to get the gun away from him. Destinee was taken down to the ground but stated that it happened so fast that she didn’t know how it happened. She also claims that during the altercation, she was strangled by Davis. Davis was deemed the primary aggressor, and a warrant was issued. Davis was taken into custody for aggravated assault on June 12th.

Shayne Flint Davis of Dover Road in Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on June 12th, charged with aggravated assault. He is free on a $5,000 bond.
