A Montgomery County Grand Jury had indicted 26-year-old Austin Lee for two counts of money laundering, one count of evading arrest, one count of assault, and one count of false reporting that occurred between the dates of August 21st, 2022, and August 24th, 2022. The indictments allege that on or about August 21st, 2022, Lee knowingly and unlawfully intended to deprive Z-Mart of property valued at $1,000. The indictment also alleges that Lee knowingly intended to conceal the property and attempted to make a financial transaction using it to purchase illegal narcotics. Another indictment alleges that on or around August 24th, 2022, Lee knowingly took property owned by Marathon Gas Station and also took property from Bethany Gibbs by using violence or putting her in fear for her life. Lee knowingly attempted to conceal the currency and use it to conduct a financial transaction such as bond money. The indictment also alleges that Lee attempted to flee from officers and attempted to conceal himself from a person he knew to be an officer. The indictment says that Lee caused bodily harm to Gibbs, knowingly and recklessly causing injury to her. Lee allegedly also attempted to make a report or statement to an officer concerning a fact about an offense within his concern. Lee knowingly gave the officer the wrong information about the robbery’s proceeds, knowing it was false to hinder officers from finding it. Austin Lee was taken into custody and charged with two counts of money laundering, evading arrest, assault, and false report on August 9th. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $4,000.
