27-year-old Kelly Leo Desir reported that his Macbook Pro was stolen out of his vehicle on June 11th and filed an insurance claim with USAA stating his property was stolen. On June 26th, Desir sent a photo of the “stolen” laptop to USAA for their investigation. Their investigators used the embedded metadata from that photo to determine it was actually taken after the laptop was supposedly stolen. He admitted to the USAA investigator that the laptop was in a repair shop and was not stolen. USAA turned those transcripts over to police, who issued a warrant for Desir’s arrest.
Kelly Leonard Desir of Tinytown Road in Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on September 25th, charged with filing a false report. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $10,000.
