DUI: Andrew Shaw scores 0.213% BAC after backing into police car

36-year-old Andrew Shaw was involved in an accident with a police car on East Boy Scout Road on July 14th. When officers arrived, they observed that a grey Chevy Impala had backed into a police car. During the officers’ interaction with Shaw, they noticed signs of intoxication as well as the smell of alcohol coming from his person. After agreeing to perform sobriety tests, Shaw performed poorly. Shaw was taken into custody and read implied consent. Shaw then agreed to take a breathalyzer test, which resulted in a 0.213% BAC. Shaw was charged with driving under the influence.

BUI: Elijah Clayton flees police by jumping off officer’s boat during sobriety tests

25-year-old Elijah Clayton was seen boating under the influence and attempting to evade arrest on the Cumberland River on July 13th. Officers noticed a white man being towed behind the boat without a life jacket and another man operating the vessel wearing a multicolored life jacket. When officers turned on their patrol lights and stopped the boat, its occupants quickly began exiting. Officers then spoke with the boat operator, identified as Elijah Clayton.

Officers noticed he seemed intoxicated and had difficulty retrieving safety equipment when asked. Officers then asked Clayton to perform sobriety tests. However, when Clayton consented and got on their boat, he refused to sit or obey commands. Clayton then jumped off the officer’s boat, refused to listen to their commands, and attempted to flee on foot. After a pursuit, officers detained and arrested Clayton for violation of implied consent, boating under the influence, reckless operation, and evading arrest.

DUI: Anton Clinard flips car after drinking several “tall boys” of beer

20-year-old Anton Clinard was arrested for driving under the influence after being involved in a car accident at the intersection of Port Royal and Head Road on July 13th. Police responded to a hit-and-run incident where a vehicle was found in a ditch. The vehicle attempted to drive off, ending up sideways in the roadway after hitting a barricade. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found Clinard unable to stand or walk and unable to perform sobriety tests.

Clinard confessed to having consumed several “tall boys” of beer. Officers observed Clinard’s red and watery eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol on his breath. An open beer can was also found within arm’s reach in the back seat. As a result, Clinard was arrested for driving while impaired and for having an open container of alcohol.

DUI: Joseph Ide crosses into opposite lane while driving on suspended license

25-year-old Joseph Ide, an employee of Vanderbilt, was involved in a traffic stop on 101st Airborne Division Parkway after officers observed him attempting to cross into an opposite travel lane on July 13th. Officers made contact and noticed a strong odor of alcohol as they approached Ide, who was showing other signs of intoxication. Ide informed officers that he had a Glock 43x and that he drunk a beer two hours before they stopped him. After being prompted with sobriety tests, Ide agreed to perform them and performed poorly. Ide was then taken into custody. A check of Ide’s license revealed that it had been suspended due to his failure to pay fines on October 14th, 2021. Ide was later transported to booking and charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence, driving under the influence, and driving on a suspended license.

Joel Casey indicted by Grand Jury for 4 counts of statutory rape of minor

A Montgomery County Grand Jury had indicted 28-year-old Joel Casey for four counts of statutory rape that occurred between the dates of January 1st, 2021, and December 2nd, 2022. The indictment alleges that Casey unlawfully and knowingly engaged in sexual contact with a minor who was at least 13 years old but not older than 18 years old. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $75,000.

Davin McDowell slaps girlfriend, makes her fall during altercation

25-year-old Davin McDowell was involved in a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Lexus Tinsley, at their Oak Park Drive residence on July 12th. When officers arrived, McDowell told them nothing happened between him and his girlfriend. Officers then spoke with Tinsley, who stated that McDowell hit her but that she was okay. Witnesses at the location provided officers with camera footage of McDowell slapping Tinsley across the face. Tinsley was seen falling backward and screaming for help from a passing car. Officers deemed McDowell the primary aggressor, and then he was taken into custody for domestic assault.

27-year-old Marcus Steele was caught shoplifting at Dollar General on Dover Road on July 8th. Steele was observed taking items off the shelves and putting them inside his shopping cart. He then left with the cart and merchandise without paying. The stolen items were valued at $80.65. Steele was later taken into custody and charged with theft of property on July 12th.

Ashley Phillips strangles, threatens girlfriend with pocket knife after going through her phone

23-year-old Ashley Phillips was involved in a domestic altercation with her girlfriend after she looked through her phone at a Westfield Court apartment on July 12th. When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the victim, who claimed she had gotten into an altercation with Phillips. She stated Phillips had gone through her phone and found several messages she did not like. The victim informed officers that the argument continued, and Phillips began taking things out of the victim’s wallet.

After this, they both began shoving each other. The victim claimed that Phillips pulled out a pocket knife, pointed it at her, and told the victim to get out of the apartment. The victim informed officers that sometime during the altercation, Phillips had pinned her onto the couch and started strangling her. She was able to push Phillips off, but officers noticed marks and bruises on her neck that were consistent with her being strangled. Phillips was deemed the primary aggressor, and she was then taken into custody for aggravated assault.

Jeremiah Stacy throws baseball bat at uncle during altercation

20-year-old Jeremiah Trinity Stacy had a domestic altercation with his uncle, Robert Yoreck, at their Randell Drive residence on April 16th. Yoreck told responding officers that Stacy threw a baseball bat, striking him on the right shin. The police checked NCIC and discovered that Stacy violated an active condition of release with Kileigh Burney as the protected party. After officers deemed Stacy the primary aggressor, they obtained warrants for his arrest.

Then, late July 11th, officers located Stacy at his family’s Randall Drive residence and detained him. Stacy was taken into custody for four counts of contempt, three counts of domestic assault, simple possession, and unlawful drug paraphernalia on July 12th.

Mario Demon Jones cuts forearm with knife to prevent girlfriend from leaving during altercation

36-year-old Mario Demon Jones was involved in a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Kerisa Baker, at a Raleigh Court apartment residence on July 11th. When officers arrived, they found Jones with a large cut on his forearm and Baker with a large bruise and a lump on her forearm.
Both Baker and Jones stated that Jones intentionally cut his forearm in an attempt to prevent Baker from leaving.

However, when officers spoke with Baker separately, she claimed that when she tried to leave, Jones grabbed her forearm, causing the bruise. She also stated that when she attempted to leave again, Jones grabbed a knife and cut himself. Baker believed this was an attempt to intimidate her and use emotional stress to make her stay. Baker told officers that she believed Jones meant to cause her harm but clarified that nothing physical had happened and that she had not been assaulted. She refused to provide a written statement or let officers photograph her injury, and she claimed that Jones did not brandish the weapon or act in any way other than self-harming.

When officers spoke with Jones, he admitted to cutting his forearm to prevent Baker from leaving but denied grabbing Baker’s arm. Based on their investigation, officers considered Jones to be the primary aggressor. Officers took Jones into custody for domestic assault on July 12th.

Nicholas Thompson refuses to give police his ID after driving with expired tags

26-year-old Nicholas Thompson was stopped on Rossview Road for not displaying his registration on July 11th. When officers made contact with Thompson, they asked him for his name and driver’s license five times, but he refused each time. Thompson told officers that he didn’t need registration on his vehicle. Thompson then refused to provide officers with any information about his car. Officers asked Thompson to get out of his car seven times, but he continued to decline. Thompson had to be escorted out of the vehicle and taken into custody. While officers were conducting an arrest search, Thompson swatted at them to prevent them from getting his wallet. A search of Thompson’s trunk revealed the correct license plate for the vehicle, which had expired in February 2024. Thompson was transported to booking and charged with driving with expired registration and no insurance.

Asonte Steele jailed after violating conditions of release by drinking alcohol

27-year-old Asonte Steele was seen violating her conditions of release by drinking alcohol on July 11th. Offices were responding to a call regarding a potential domestic altercation in progress and made contact with Steele when they arrived. While speaking with Steele, officers noticed the smell of alcohol coming from her. Officers discovered that Steele had an active condition of release in which the condition prohibited her from drinking alcohol. When asked about the alcohol smell, Steele admitted that she had been drinking that night. Steele was then taken into custody for Contempt.

Kristopher Holt attacks girlfriend after blacking out during bipolar episode

47-year-old Kristopher Holt was involved in a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Michelle Price, at their Oak Haven Motel on July 11th. When officers spoke with Price, she told them that things got physical during an argument with Holt. Price stated that while she was sitting on their bed, Holt pushed her down and wrapped his legs around her neck. Price claimed that she was able to get free, but Holt pushed her back down and grabbed her by the neck. Price also claimed she was not able to breathe when he did this. Price told police she was able to roll off the bed but when she tried to get up, Holt kicked her in the back. During their interaction, officers observed signs of physical assault, so they went to contact Holt. When officers met Holt, he stated that nothing happened. Holt then informed officers that he is schizophrenic and bipolar and often blacks out while he drinks. Holt was taken into custody and charged with aggravated domestic assault.

Christopher Moss punches wife in face multiple times during altercation

49-year-old Christopher Moss was involved in a domestic altercation with his wife, Marketha Mosley, while in a parked vehicle at their Washington Street residence on July 8th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Mosley, who claimed that Moss had assaulted her. Mosley informed officers that she and Moss were sitting in a parked vehicle at the residence, talking about relationship issues. Mosley stated this made Moss angry, causing him to punch Mosley in the face multiple times. After this, Mosley proceeded to exit the vehicle and told Moss she was going to call 911. Moss proceeded to pin her against the car and attempt to grab her phone.

Mosley also told officers that when she tried to go inside the residence, Moss grabbed her and forcibly tried to take her to the ground so that he could take her phone. Moss then took Mosley’s phone and fled the scene before officers arrived. After this, Mosley went inside and used the home phone to call 911. Officers also spoke with Mosley’s juvenile child, who gave his account of what happened, corroborating Mosley’s statements. Officers observed an injury to Mosley’s lip that was consistent with her being punched. A warrant was issued for Moss’ arrest that day. Moss was later found and taken into custody for domestic assault on July 11th.

46-year-old Yesmin Castro was involved in a domestic altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Laura Mendez, at her Clearview Drive residence on July 11th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Mendez, who claimed that Castro, her ex-boyfriend and father to her children, had suspected her of cheating. Mendez claimed that Castro came to her home and tried to take her phone away from her. During this altercation, Mendez alleges that Castro grabbed her arm, bear-hugged her, and pushed her as she tried to get away. This caused Mendez to feel assaulted during the scuffle, prompting her to call the police. Officers then spoke with Castro, who admitted to officers that he did grab Mendez in an attempt to get the phone. Based on the statements made, Castro was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for domestic assault.

Georgia Higley indicted by Grand Jury for shooting weapon into woman’s car

A Montgomery County Grand Jury has indicted 25-year-old Georgia Higley for reckless endangerment and vandalism. The indictment alleges that on or near the date of March 24th, 2023, Higley knowingly and unlawfully shot a weapon into Claudia Colbert’s vehicle, causing $10,000 in damages and placing Colbert in fear for her life. Higley was taken into custody on July 11th. A judicial commissioner set her bond at $15,000.

Northwest High School teacher Sophia Elvilus resists arrest after ignoring officers during traffic stop

24-year-old Northwest High School Spanish teacher Sophia Elvilus was seen in a light blue Honda CRV with a broken brake light on Shanee Terrace on July 11th. When officers conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Elvilus, she expressed that she knew the law and that she was not detained. Elvilus put her hands in her pocket and refused to comply with the officers’ orders. Elvilus then walked toward her car’s driver seat after officers told her to stay out of it. At that time, the passenger inside the vehicle closed the distance between him and the officers and told Elvilus to get inside the car. Officers then told Elvilus to put her hands behind her back and grabbed her arms in an attempt to detain her. Elvilus pulled her arms away from the officers and ran from them. After multiple attempts to free herself from arrest, Elvilus was taken into custody and charged with evading arrest and resisting arrest.

Ricky Riggs steals $2,522 worth of portable A/C Units from Lowe’s

32-year-old Ricky Riggs was apprehended for theft from two different Lowe’s stores between June 8th and July 9th. On July 10th, Shawn Worley, a loss prevention officer at Lowe’s, reported to the authorities that on June 8th, Riggs had stolen from the store. Worley alleged that Riggs had entered the Lowe’s on Lowes Drive, selected a portable Hisense A/C unit valued at $480, and left through the main exit without paying.

Another loss prevention employee, Jack Rutherford, reported that on July 8th, Riggs entered the same Lowe’s and took 2 Hisense portable A/C units, valued at $480 each, to the garden center. However, Rutherford stopped Riggs before he could leave and retrieved the A/C units before Riggs fled the scene. On July 9th, officers responded to a shoplifting call at Lowe’s on Madison Street and spoke with Worley, who identified Riggs stealing again. Riggs was seen on footage loading a cart with items valued at $1082.96 and pushing the cart out when the exit was busy. A warrant was issued for Riggs’s arrest, and he was taken into custody for three counts of property theft on July 11th.

Keyala Snipe indicted by Grand Jury for aggravated animal cruelty

A Montgomery County Jury indicted 29-year-old Keyala Monique Snipe for aggravated cruelty to animals on July 1st. The indictment alleges that on or around January 17th, Dennis Broadie and Snipe unlawfully, intentionally, or knowingly and with no justifiable purpose did kill, maim, or cause serious physical injury, a substantial risk of death, or death to a companion animal. Snipe was taken into custody on July 11th. Snipe was previously arrested in February 2024 for letting her dog freeze to death outside.

Jason Edwards shoots gun during argument with brother-in-law’s family

50-year-old Jason Edwards was involved in a domestic dispute with his brother-in-law, Barry Batson, at his Mcwhorter Road residence on July 11th. When officers arrived, they observed a .45 pistol holstered on Edwards’ waist, which was secured by law enforcement. Once officers made contact with Barry and his wife, Sandy Batson, she told them she and Edwards got into an argument when she tried waking him up. Sandy’s daughter got involved during the argument, which led to Edwards getting enraged and yelling. Sandy’s daughter then called her father and told him about the confrontation between her and Edwards.

Once Barry got home and opened his car door, he was approached by a furious Edwards, so he attempted to calm him down. As Edwards continued to get into Barry’s face, Sandy came outside as they argued. Edwards then said, “We could end it all right here.” while reaching around his back to where he had kept his gun. When Edwards reached to his back, Barry grabbed Sandy and went back inside. According to Barry, Edwards pulled his gun out and shot at the ground. Barry then turned around and saw a gun in Edwards’ hand and heard him say that “he would take him out.” Through further investigation, officers found a shell case in the area of the incident. Due to evidence, Edwards was taken into custody and charged with aggravated domestic assault.
