24-year-old Maryah Jones was seen leaving her two-year-old child in her car unattended at the Fort Campbell Boulevard Walmart on December 29th, 2023. Officers arrived to find that the vehicle was unlocked with the vehicle still running. While officers were trying to find the car’s owner, Jones walked up and claimed it. Jones told officers she went in with a friend who needed to use the bathroom. Jones stated that she made small purchases while her friend was in the restroom. Jones said she hadn’t been gone for more than 5 minutes. Walmart provided video evidence of Jones arriving at 2:22 p.m., exiting her car by herself at 2:24 p.m., and returning to her vehicle at 2:37 p.m. Maryah Jones was taken into custody and charged with child abuse and neglect.
Maryah Kaleesha Jones of Parkway Lane in Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on December 29th, charged with child abuse and neglect. A judicial commissioner set her bond at $15,000.
