Makayla Usher attempts to stab intimate partner during argument

23-year-old Makayla Usher was involved in a domestic altercation with Shakeem Chesney, one of her intimate partners, at a Ringgold Road apartment residence on May 26th. Officers spoke with Chesney, who stated that Usher had assaulted and attempted to stab him with a knife. Chesney also informed officers that she fled on foot towards Greenland Court when he told her he was contacting officers. Officers made contact and spoke with Usher, who said that she was having a discussion with a “friend” and that it never got physical. Officers gave Usher numerous attempts to give her account of the incident. Still, she repeated that the discussion never got physical.

Officers then made contact again with Chesney, and he told officers he and Usher had a sexual relationship, which caused the argument. Chesney told officers that during the argument, she began hitting him. He stated this was witnessed by his roommate, Dwight David. Chesney says that when he tried to close his bedroom door, Usher forced it open, causing him to hit his head. At one point during the argument, Usher grabbed a knife from the kitchen sink and attempted to stab Chesney, causing a small cut to his rib. The knife was located in the kitchen sink and turned in as evidence. Usher was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody for Aggravated assault.
