24-year-old Jonathan Ruiz was seen backing into a concrete wall at University Avenue on March 9th. When officers arrived at the mentioned location, they made contact with Ruiz and noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Ruiz was asked if he consumed any alcohol, and he admitted that he had two beers around two hours before the crash. Ruiz later consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. Officers observed a firearm in plain sight on the passenger seat. Jonathan Ruiz was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence and possession of a handgun while under the influence.
