DUI: Dylan Newman tells police he drank “a few beers and a few shots” before driving

22-year-old Dylan Newman was involved in a traffic stop due to his non-functioning tail light at Old Dover Road on March 9th. Officers made contact and noticed a strong odor of alcohol as they approached Newman. When Newman was asked to step out of the vehicle, he admitted to drinking “a few beers and a few shots” at a friend’s house. Newman consented to sobriety tests and performed poorly. Officers then conducted a probable cause search on Newman’s car and found a rolled 20-dollar bill with a white powder inside next to his driver’s license. After being advised of his legal rights, Newman admitted that the substance inside the dollar bill was cocaine.

Furthermore, after being questioned, Newman admitted to being in possession of cocaine. Newman presented a small, clear plastic bag containing cocaine weighing 0.9 grams, which he concealed in his groin. Shortly after, Newman admitted to using cocaine “just before you stopped me.” Dylan Newman was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence, simple possession, and improper display of plates.
