21-year-old Fort Campbell Soldier Cooper Sheffer was booked into the Montgomery County Jail this week after his firearm was discharged from inside his apartment, causing a bullet to pass through the wall of his apartment and into his neighbor’s residence, which was occupied. A female victim in the neighboring apartment was in the living room at the time of the gunshot, which came through the wall approximately 8-10 inches from where she was sitting. Sheffer says he “accidentally bumped the trigger” while cleaning the firearm.
