DUI: James Powers runs stop sign at high speed after drinking 3 Angry Orchard Hard Ciders

27-year-old James Powers was caught driving recklessly and under the influence at the intersection of Commerce Street and South 2nd Street on July 7th. Officers observed Powers’ vehicle at Madison Street and Greenwood Avenue. They noticed that the vehicle passed through a stop sign at the intersection of Commerce Street and South 2nd Street at a high rate of speed without attempting to slow down or stop. Officers then initiated a traffic stop and contacted Powers, explaining the reason for the stop. However, they immediately noticed his droopy eyelids. When asked about his alcohol consumption, Powers admitted to officers that he had 3 Angry Orchard Hard Ciders before driving. After this, officers asked Powers to perform sobriety tests, which he agreed to. However, he performed poorly on all tests given, showing numerous indicators of intoxication. Officers deemed Powers to be intoxicated, and he was then taken into custody for driving under the influence, reckless driving, and running a stop sign.

DUI: Michael Dew tells officers he took Trazodone after running stop signs

23-year-old Michael Dew was seen running stop signs near Palmyra Market on Highway 149 at 3:40 a.m. on June 20th. Officers observed an ambulance following a white truck heading towards Highway 48 that was failing to maintain its lane. Officers followed them and observed the ambulance and truck making a right turn on Hawkins Road. Officers observed the truck failing to stop at a marked stop sign and noticed the truck veering into the center yellow line and then abruptly correcting itself. A traffic stop was initiated, and upon contact with Dew, officers noticed he appeared intoxicated and that he would “zone out.” Officers proceeded to ask Dew to exit the vehicle, where they asked him if he had taken any medication or alcohol, to which he replied, “Trazodone.” Dew stated several times that he was tired, which is a known side effect of the medication. Dew was then asked to perform sobriety tests, which he agreed to but performed poorly on. Michael Dew was then taken into custody for driving under the influence, stop sign violation, and improper lane use.

Alishaa ‘Peachy’ Dabney jailed after police pursuit; marijuana in a stitch satchel

24-year-old Alishaa Dabney, AKA Peachy, was jailed on September 14th after a vehicle pursuit in her Audi A4 on Lafayette Road after she failed to stop at a stop sign. Once the officers activated emergency equipment, Dabney sped away until eventually coming to a complete stop on Anita Court. While placing Ms. Dabney into custody for the chase and traffic violation, officers observed a male passenger in the vehicle. He stated that he told Ms. Dabney to stop several times during the chase, but she refused. A strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle, according to police. A search yielded a “Stitch” satchel bag containing 24.9 grams of marijuana and two loaded guns, one of which didn’t have a serial number. Dabney was sluggish and had bloodshot eyes. She admitted to being under the influence and to being in possession of marijuana and firearms.
