De’Artis Sykes caught with stolen AR-style firearm, 26 grams of marijuana during search

20-year-old De’Artis Markel Tyrin Sykes was taken into custody for the unlawful carrying of a weapon, theft of property, simple possession, and unlawful drug paraphernalia on April 9th. At around 10:12 a.m., officers executed a search warrant at Sykes’s Timberlake Drive apartment. Officers did so after previously conducting surveillance, where Sykes would exit his unit with an AR-style firearm and enter his white 2004 Acura before leaving the area. When he returned, they searched his apartment and discovered the mentioned firearm was reported stolen via NCIC on December 31st, 2023. Sykes’ criminal history shows a felony guilty plea from 2023. Additionally, officers located a teal backpack with a scale and 26 grams of marijuana in the living room. Sykes was then detained for the incident.

Marquavius Kelly caught walking out of storage unit that wasn’t his

19-year-old Marquavius Kelly was caught coming out of a storage unit that wasn’t his at Paradise Hill Road on March 6th. Officers found marijuana roaches and a firearm with an extended magazine on the floor. Kelly admitted that all of the items found were his. Marquavius Kelly was taken into custody and charged with unlawful carry and trespassing.

Caden Ashby caught with 2.4 grams of magic mushrooms

18-year-old Caden Ashby was stopped in his black Chevrolet Tahoe on February 11th due to a defective brake light. During the traffic stop, Ashby consented to a search of his car, which produced a black .22 revolver along with 2.4 grams of a mixed white and grey powder-like substance. When Ashby was asked about the substance, he said that it was mushrooms. Caden Ashby was taken into custody and charged with light law, unlawful carry, and possession of drugs.

Jerry Saunders attempts to evade arrest, hides behind building

28-year-old Jerry Saunders was seen evading arrest at Nolan Road on November 29th. Officers received a report that there was a domestic altercation occurring at Saunders’s home. When they made contact with Saunders, they noticed that he smelled of marijuana and that there wasn’t anyone else in the area. But when officers attempted to search Saunders, he tried to run away and hide behind the building. After a short chase, officers were able to detain Saunders. Officers followed Saunders’s escape route and found a Model 200 .38 Caliber Revolver behind the building. During the arrest, Saunders was found with a holster on his right pocket matching the dimensions of the revolver. Saunders was taken into custody and charged with unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon and evading arrest.

Kevin Abernathy threatens girlfriend with gun, tells her “I’ll blow you and them!”

35-year-old Kevin Abernathy was jailed on November 19th after threatening his girlfriend with a gun on Victory Road. When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with witness Jabril Fagan, who stated that Kevin pushed Lagail Smith to the ground, pointed a gun at her, and said, “I’ll blow you and them.” At that point, Mr. Smith ran outside in fear and called 911. He described the gun as black with a flash style under attachment. Police recovered a black FN 509 pistol with a laser-light combo from under a couch cushion. According to Kevin, everyone in the house had been drinking when an argument started, so he went to get his gun to leave the apartment.

18-year-old Shanya Harris assaults McDonalds manager

18-year-old Shanya Denay Harris was taken in custody on October 31st for an outstanding warrant regarding an assault that occurred at McDonald’s on October 26th. Harris was at work when she and two others approached her manager, Jahreise Martin, and she began pushing and hitting him. McDonald’s provided footage showing the incident. Then, when Harris was arrested on October 31st, a subsequent search yielded in officers finding a loaded Glock .40 caliber pistol in her front right pocket and a “nicotine vapor device.” Additionally, Harris was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon and prohibited purchase of a tobacco product by a minor.

DUI: 19-year-old Logan Blackmon runs stop sign while speeding on Dunlop Lane

19-year-old Logan William Blackmon failed to stop at a stop sign and sped off at Dunlop Lane on the night of October 28. Officers noticed this, conducted a traffic stop, and smelled a strong odor of alcohol as they approached Blackmon. They asked Blackmon if he consumed any alcohol, and he admitted to having three beers, consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and provided a breath sample that resulted in 0.122% BAC. A subsequent search of Blackmon’s vehicle yielded an open box of beer, an open bottle of liquor, and a handgun with three loaded magazines. Blackmon was taken into custody for underage driving under the influence, unlawful carry of a firearm, possession of a handgun while under the influence, reckless driving, and an open container violation.

Kyjuan Schambers jailed after hit-and-run crash

21-year-old Kyjuan Schambers was the driver responsible for multiple injuries in a three-vehicle accident on Purple Heart Pkwy. on October 3rd. Officers witnessed a white Kia Sedan speeding down 101st Airborne Division Pkwy. shortly before responding to a wreck involving the same vehicle. Three cars were damaged, and as officers arrived, they observed two Glock handguns and blue pills, later identified as Oxycodone, in plain view of the unoccupied Kia Sedan. Officers determined the Kia Sedan to be the at-fault vehicle as witnesses stated that the Kia was traveling at a high speed before rear-ending a car, causing them to hit the car in front of them.

A passenger and a driver were transported to Tennova for medical attention and were able to identify Schambers as the driver of the Kia. Officers confirmed that the Kia was registered to Schambers and that his license was “eligible for reissue.” Schambers was arrested on October 5th for reckless endangerment, unlawful carrying of a weapon, simple possession, leaving the scene, and driving without a license.

Alishaa ‘Peachy’ Dabney jailed after police pursuit; marijuana in a stitch satchel

24-year-old Alishaa Dabney, AKA Peachy, was jailed on September 14th after a vehicle pursuit in her Audi A4 on Lafayette Road after she failed to stop at a stop sign. Once the officers activated emergency equipment, Dabney sped away until eventually coming to a complete stop on Anita Court. While placing Ms. Dabney into custody for the chase and traffic violation, officers observed a male passenger in the vehicle. He stated that he told Ms. Dabney to stop several times during the chase, but she refused. A strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle, according to police. A search yielded a “Stitch” satchel bag containing 24.9 grams of marijuana and two loaded guns, one of which didn’t have a serial number. Dabney was sluggish and had bloodshot eyes. She admitted to being under the influence and to being in possession of marijuana and firearms.

J’Deshawn Duncan stopped for window tint; police find stolen gun & Marijuana

19-year-old J’Deshawn Duncan was jailed on September 9th after being pulled over on Riverside Drive for having illegal window tints. The front windows were 17%, and the back was 5%; the legal percentage is 35 and above. While officers spoke with Duncan and front-seat passenger Tyson Mullins, they could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Duncan was asked to step out of the vehicle, and officers could smell raw marijuana coming from his person. A vehicle search was conducted, which yielded a tied-off baggie of marijuana in the front seat and a Glock handgun with an extended mag under the seat. There were 16 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. A check through NCIC showed the pistol was stolen out of Davidson County.

A working pistol light/laser and a digital scale were also found under the driver’s seat. In the center console, a fully loaded 9mm Glock magazine was located. Duncan admitted to the pistol being his but denied knowing anything about the narcotics or accessories.

Murray Hunter passenger in drug & gun-filled car that fled from police

35-year-old Murray Hunter was booked on July 14th after being involved in a car chase that ended in the parking lot of Wagon Wheel on Fort Campbell Boulevard. Zachary Clark was the driver during the chase. Unknown pills were found in his pockets that were later identified as Percocets and Xanax. A search of the vehicle yielded 5.7 grams of fentanyl, 46.6 grams of marijuana, a loaded Ruger 5.7, a loaded Kel-Tec PMR, and a loaded Glock 36 in the backseat. Hunter was a passenger in the backseat in arm’s reach of the items found during the search. Hunter is a convicted felon.

Jah Newell found with gun while on probation for second-degree murder

18-year-old Jah Newell is currently on probation for attempted 2nd-degree murder and is prohibited from possessing any firearms. He was found walking on Jack Miller Blvd with three other individuals, two of which were juveniles, on July 22. Some of the individuals fled when officers approached, but Newell was detained and consented to a search. Officers located a Ruger SR9 tucked inside his boxers. He admitted to retrieving the handgun from his home.

Lauren Wright Holden says she “did a bump of heroin” at Dodge’s before overdosing

38-year-old Lauren Marie Wright Holden told police she did “a bump of heroin” in the bathroom of Dodge’s on Fort Campbell Blvd just before 8 p.m. Wednesday. Police say she then walked outside and attempted to pump gas when she overdosed and became unconscious. Officers arrived and administered Narcan, and she became responsive shortly afterward. Officers took her into custody for public intoxication, and a search incident to arrest revealed a loaded Canik TP9 handgun in her purse. She was additionally charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence.

Austin Mellender jailed for felony auto theft & two handguns

18-year-old Austin Michael Mellender is jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond charged with the theft of a 2020 Ford Escape from Rheann Vera. Officers located him inside the vehicle with two male juveniles, ages 13 and 14, on Pageant Lane with 15 grams of marijuana and a loaded .22 magnum revolver, which was also reported stolen. He attempted to flee during the arrest but was captured after a brief foot chase. A search also revealed a 9mm handgun in the pocket of his hoodie. During an interview, it was learned all three individuals participated in the vehicle theft.
