Brett Hinds breaks conditions of release, assaults girlfriend during argument

On April 24th, 36-year-old Brett Hinds was involved in a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Savvanah Stephenson, at a Palmyra Road residence. When officers arrived on the scene, they heard a man and a woman yelling in the basement of the home. Officers then made a loud and clear announcement to open the door due to the screaming. The woman then shouted, “No!” prompting officers to kick the door down and separate the two. Officers then identified Stephenson and Hinds before speaking with Stephenson, who stated that she was in fear for her life. Stephenson stated that if officers did not enter, she felt she would have been assaulted more than she already was. Officers then noticed the marks on her inner arm and then the bruising on her left foot. Officers confirmed that there were active conditions of release in place that prohibited the two from having any contact with one another. Officers then spoke with Hinds, who stated that nothing physical had occurred between the two and an assault did not take place. Officers deemed Hinds to be the primary aggressor, and he was taken into custody for aggravated assault and contempt on April 26th.
