39-year-old Soldier Mathew DeMello was caught assaulting his adopted 15-year-old son at his Alvin Road residence on April 23rd. Officers arrived and spoke with Mathew’s wife, Nichole DeMello. She explained that their adopted son got into an argument with Mathew. The victim told officers that their dog used the bathroom inside the house, so he tried to clean the mess up. Mathew saw the mess on the floor and started yelling at his son to clean it up with a Swiffer. Mathew continued to yell and get into his son’s face to the point that he puffed out his chest and pushed him with it. When he pushed him, he ended up bumping the victim’s head into a wall. The victim attempted to push Mathew away from him, which is when Nichole stepped in between them. When officers spoke with Mathew, he admitted that he knew what he did was wrong. Mathew DeMello was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault.
Mathew John Cordeiro DeMello of Alvin Road in Clarksville, TN, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on April 23rd, charged with domestic assault. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $1,000.
