APSU Track-and-Field Athlete Jade-Ann Smith and friend assault woman at Castle Heights

19-year-old Jade-Ann Anastasia Smith, an APSU Track-and-Field athlete, was taken into custody for assault on March 1st. Smith and her friend Celeania Rollerson were involved in the assault of Ke’Shia Taylor at Austin Peay State University’s Castle Heights dorm on February 29th. Taylor was leaving her boyfriend’s room when Smith and Rollerson attacked her. Taylor’s injuries consisted of a cut on her right ankle and soreness on her right shoulder and forehead. Taylor’s friend and witness of the situation, Eniyah Wilson, stated that she saw both Smith and Rollerson kicking and punching Taylor. Smith and Rollerson were taken into custody and charged with assault.

Thomas Ashley found drunk, sleeping in front of Dunn Center

23-year-old Thomas Mitchell Ashley, an employee of Rock Dale Gymnastics, was sleeping on the steps of the Dunn Center on October 28th. Officers approached Ashley, who was visibly intoxicated as he admitted to consuming alcohol earlier. He could not state where he was going or coming from. So, Thomas was placed into custody for public intoxication.

Former APSU Coach Douglas Molnar misappropriated over $30K — agrees to 4 years probation deal & repayment

The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office has released an investigation involving Douglas Molnar, who served as Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) Head Track and Field and Cross Country coach from September 2004 until June 2019.

Investigators determined that Molnar misappropriated APSU funds totaling at least $30,600.45.

The vast majority of the misappropriated money was collected and turned over to Molnar during track and cross country fundraiser events hosted between 2015 and 2018. These fundraisers included several athletic events in which participants were charged entry fees. At least $29,775 that was collected during these events should have been deposited into a APSU bank account; however, investigators discovered that Molnar retained this money for his personal benefit.

Trent Denton charged with DUI after clocked at 71 mph on Madison Street at 1 a.m.

Clarksville Police Officer Ronnie Raikes says he clocked 23-year-old Trent Denton traveling at 71 mph in a 45 mph zone on Madison Street at 1 a.m. on Madison Street. As he conducted a traffic stop, he said it was obvious Denton was extremely intoxicated, reeked of alcohol, had slurred speech, and forgot what he was looking for each time he was asked to retrieve his license, insurance, and registration. An open black bottle with a yellow liquid was inside the vehicle, which Denton admitted was vodka and lemonade.
