Officers arrived and noticed a strong odor of alcohol as they approached Woods, who admitted to consuming 6 “tall boys” before driving. They conducted a probable cause search of his vehicle and located several opened containers on the passenger side floorboard. Woods consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and then, after being informed about implied consent, agreed to provide a blood sample. DUI: Travis Elsperman tells police he had 6-7 drinks before driving

22-year-old Travis Elsperman was seen in the parking lot of the Electric Cowboy asleep in the driver’s seat of his car on February 16th. Once officers made contact with Elsperman, he told them he had six to seven beers. An officer noted that Elsperman smelt like an alcoholic beverage and showed clear signs of intoxication. 22-year-old Brianna Ortiz was seen swerving in a red Infinity Sedan with no lights at Wilma Rodolph Boulevard on February 12th. 27-year-old Terence Hilton was found asleep in his black Lincoln sedan in the middle of the roadway at the intersection of Dunlop Lane and Ted Crozier Boulevard on February 6th. Officers woke Hilton and instructed him to exit the vehicle. Hilton displayed clear signs of being intoxicated. Hilton then consented to Sobriety tests, which he performed poorly on. During a search of Hilton’s car, officers found an Angry Orchard Hard Cider bottle under the driver’s seat and some empty THC packaging. During a post-Miranda Warning, Hilton stated he had consumed 3 “vodka drinks” 45 minutes before officers found him. Terence Hilton was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence.

DUI: Jeffrey Waller found unconscious in vehicle on I-24

45-year-old Jeffrey Waller was jailed on February 7th after officers observed him parked on the right shoulder of I-24. When officers arrived, they noticed the driver and passenger slumped over sleeping. Officers knocked and banged on the window to wake them, but neither of them would wake up. Officers called for another unit and an ambulance and finally got into the vehicle. The passenger woke up once the police got inside the vehicle. Officers had to administer Narcan and sternum rubs until the driver finally awoke. Waller was identified as the driver. Waller was slurring his speech and seemed very incoherent. Waller nearly fell out of the vehicle while exiting and could not hold himself up. Waller was drooling as officers helped him walk to the patrol vehicle. Waller was taken into custody and was transported to Tennova for a suspected overdose. Waller was charged with DUI on February 7th.

DUI: Chance Decker caught driving his Dodge Ram while smoking marijuana

28-year-old Chance Decker was jailed on the night of December 31st, 2023, for driving recklessly on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and 101st Airborne Division. Officers pulled over a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck for driving without lights on. Officers could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle as they approached it. Decker consented to perform field sobriety tests, which he did poorly on. In Decker’s car, officers found a cigarette with a green leafy substance inside. The substance field tested positive for THC/Marijuana. Decker was then read implied consent and refused to provide a blood sample. A search warrant was secured, and officers acquired a blood sample from Decker. Decker was placed into custody and charged with DUI.

22-year-old Bradley Huff was involved in a car crash at the intersection of Madison Street and Richview Road on December 29th, 2023. Huff was driving and rear-ended a vehicle at the intersection. 22-year-old Gabrielle Mejia was seen in a grey Subaru weaving in and out of her lane on Fort Campbell Boulevard late February 9th. Officers conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Mejia, who had a strong smell of an intoxicating beverage and appeared inebriated. Mejia had trouble locating and handing over her documents and admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages. When asked how drunk she was on a scale of 1-10, she replied “3”, leading to Mejia agreeing to perform field sobriety tests, but she performed poorly. 39-year-old Shane Castillo, an employee of Ajax Distributing Company, was seen in his silver Nissan Titan swerving toward oncoming traffic at Dover Road on February 4th. Officers stopped Castillo because Castillo nearly hit an officer’s patrol car when he swerved toward oncoming traffic. When officers made contact with Castillo, they noted that Castillo reeked of alcohol. 22-year-old David Huynh was jailed on February 4th when officers observed a dark-colored vehicle driving through the grass into McGregor Park. Then, Harvey told them he had drunk Vodka earlier in the day before consenting to sobriety tests, which he performed poorly on. Officers observed him to be visibly intoxicated, and he was taken into custody for driving under the influence.

Marcus McKinney jailed after crashing into a parked car

39-year-old Marcus McKinney was involved in a car crash at Drayton Drive on January 26th. Law enforcement received a report that a black truck struck a parked car and drove away. When officers arrived at the mentioned location, they observed the black truck still driving around the neighborhood with noticeable damage. When officers searched Barretta’s car, they found a green leaf substance that tested positive for THC. Elenor Barretta was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence and simple possession.
