DUI: Soldier Matthew Thornton flees from accident

23-year-old Fort Campbell Soldier Matthew Thornton was involved in a car crash at the intersection of Lafayette Road and North Liberty Church Road on April 5th, 2023. He reportedly left the scene of the accident and walked in the direction of Northwest High School. The vehicle was stuck on a utility pole guide wire with multiple airbags deployed. Officers observed military gear bearing the name “Thorton” and later responded to the Flats at Lancaster, where Matthew lived. They discovered blood in the residence, which matched the blood located inside the crashed vehicle.

Later, Mrs. Thornton, Matthew’s wife, came to the scene of the accident. She stated that she and Matthew rode together in her car to a friend’s house, where she dropped him off. Mrs. Thornton advised that Matthew had his phone with him at the friend’s house but originally stated his phone was showing the location of his vehicle. She also added that she was unsure about how he got back home.

Officers contacted Madison Swanson, the friend whom Matthew had been dropped off. Swanson stated that Matthew arrived disoriented and injured and that they had all been drinking earlier in the evening. At Swanson’s apartment, officers finally came into contact with Matthew, who had an injury to his thumb that was bleeding. A blood sample was taken, which came back .118% BAC. Matthew Thornton was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence.

DUI: Jason White tells officers “Ain’t nobody going to stick me with no needle”

46-year-old Jason Lee White failed to yield to a patrol car’s right of way on Somerset Road in the early hours of February 11th. Then, after completing his turn, he entered the furthest lane. Officers observed this, so they conducted a traffic stop. They noticed a strong odor of alcohol as they approached the driver’s side and asked him to exit the vehicle to take sobriety tests. White consented and performed poorly. While White was being transported to Tennova, he repeatedly expressed that he would not consent to a blood draw with or without a warrant, telling them, “Ain’t nobody going to stick me with no needle.” White was taken into custody for tampering with evidence, failure to yield, improper turn, and driving under the influence.

Kayla Turner severely neglects 5-year-old and newborn baby

28-year-old Kayla Janae Cartell Turner was taken into custody for three counts of child abuse/neglect. In the early hours of February 11th, a concerned citizen alerted the authorities, informing them that an unsupervised infant was walking in the middle of the parking lot at Ramblewood Apartments. Detectives arrived and observed the infant was barefoot and covered in dirt with a soiled diaper. After speaking with several residents, they located the mother, Turner, in her unit and noticed a heap of clothing in the living room, hindering any sight of the floor. There was also rotten food on the floor and counters, which were both covered in mold. Then, officers located a 5-year-old child and a newborn, who was face down on the bed with a diaper so soiled that it had lost its color. As they investigated further, they found trash piled up inside the children’s bedroom and realized no food. Turner told them that she had last changed their diapers around 7 p.m. on February 10th, six hours before officers showed up, and then explained that she only gets one diaper size for her 5-year-old, 1-year-old, and newborn to share, insisting that they wore the same size. She also admitted to drinking before she went to bed on the day prior. Turner was detained, and then detectives notified DCS.

Khaleaya Cherry chases husband with knife and threatens to slit mother’s throat

29-year-old Fort Campbell Soldier Khaleaya Cherry was involved in an altercation with her husband, Jeremy McKenzie, and mother, Denise Bray, at Fort Sumter Drive on February 11th. After returning home from a date night, the couple got into an argument in their bathroom, leading to McKenzie calling his mother-in-law to de-escalate the situation. McKenzie turned away to leave the bathroom to get some space, but Cherry punched him in the back of his head. He continued on his way out of the room and went downstairs with Cherry still pursuing him. While downstairs, Cherry went to the kitchen, grabbed a large knife, and began to chase McKenzie back up the stairs. McKenzie was able to make it back to their bedroom and lock himself in. Cherry then went to her mother’s room and began an argument with her as well. During the argument, Cherry started punching her in the face while still holding the knife. Cherry then put the knife to her mother’s throat and said that she would kill her. Officers made contact with Cherry, who stated that nothing got physical with her husband but wouldn’t go into detail about what happened with her mother. Khaleaya Cherry was taken into custody and charged with two counts of aggravated domestic assault.

Corteeves Rivers breaks door down during altercation with wife

22-year-old Corteeves Rivers was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife, Dekayshe Sanders, at the apartments on Verkler Drive on February 10th. Officers made contact with Sanders, who was shaking and heavily crying. She explained that Rivers took her phone, but when she asked for it back to call 911, he told her she could call them when he left. Sanders locked herself in her room, but Rivers broke the door down and pushed her down on her bed. Sanders pushed him off of her and ran out of the front door. However, Rivers was behind her and shut the door on her arm. Corteeves Rivers was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault and interfering with emergency calls.

30-year-old Joanna Iodice was caught with drugs at the Montgomery County Jail on February 12th. When she was brought in, an officer searched her property and found a piece of aluminum foil folded up with white powder inside. The white powder tested positive for cocaine. Joanna Iodice was taken into custody and charged with contraband in a penal institution, drugs, and drug paraphernalia.

25-year-old John Andretrius Dowlen had a domestic incident with his ex-girlfriend, Zikia Henderson, at her Ringgold Court Apartment on February 11th. Officers were dispatched to Dowlen’s Sampson Street residence and were advised that he and Henderson argued in her car. Dowlen exited the vehicle to de-escalate the situation, but she followed him. Then, he tried to reenter the vehicle, but she locked the doors, so he started hitting the window, trying to get her to unlock it. After he hit the passenger’s side window three times, it broke. Dowlen was taken into custody for vandalism.

Luis Abarca threatens 17-year-old boy over court case

29-year-old Luis Abarca was caught sending threatening messages to a 17-year-old boy on February 23rd. While officers were investigating an incident that occurred on January 22nd, there were several phone and text conversations between Abarca and the victim, which he stated placed him in fear and concern. Abarca has made multiple statements with the intent to intimidate or frighten family members so they could pressure the victim into terminating the investigation of the original incident. On February 13th, a family member of the victim received a phone call from Abarca stating that if the victim follows through with the charges and they go to court, the victim’s juvenile boyfriend and his sibling will be removed from the custody of their mother. Luis Abarca was taken into custody and charged with coercion of a witness.

Michelle Buggs douses woman in bleach during altercation

54-year-old Michelle Buggs was involved in an altercation with Jaylene Callender at the Montgomery Commons apartments on February 17th. Callender explained to officers that she was walking to her apartment when Buggs approached her and started yelling in her face. Buggs followed up by dousing Callender with a bottle of Bleach. The assault caused skin irritations on Callender’s shoulder, back, and leg. Michelle Buggs was taken into custody and charged with assault.

Jeremy Rugante high on drugs attacks childhood friend

36-year-old Jeremy Rugante was involved in an altercation with his childhood friend at Paradise Hill Road on February 24. When the victim opened the door, he saw Rugante, his childhood friend, so he let him inside. He noticed that Rugante seemed to be under the influence of drugs and was getting loud, so he told him that he needed to leave. This made Rugante upset, so he pushed him to the ground and started punching and kicking him until he lost consciousness. There were witnesses to the assault who stated that they heard a commotion in the living room and saw Rugante punching and kicking the victim, who seemed unresponsive. Once Rugante saw the witnesses, he left out the front door and did not return. Jeremy Rugante was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.

40-year-old Timothy Russell was seen swerving into oncoming traffic in a silver Nissan Altima at Fort Campbell Boulevard on February 25th. Officers made contact and noticed a strong odor of alcohol as they approached Russell, who admitted to consuming “a couple of shots.” They conducted a probable cause search of his vehicle and located a bag of marijuana. Russell consented to sobriety tests, performed poorly, and then, after being informed about implied consent, refused to provide a blood sample. Timothy Russell was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence, implied consent, and possession of drugs.

Tyrone White pulls butcher knife on girlfriend

21-year-old Tyrone White was involved in a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Diasha Smith, at their shared Bristol Ridge apartment on February 25th. When officers arrived regarding a complaint, they came into contact with Smith, who informed them about an argument with White over her doing his hair. After the argument, they were in the hallway and bumped into each other, and White pushed her. Smith proceeded to pace around the apartment, crying and screaming while White tried to hush her. White told her to be quiet before he hit her again. Smith walked into the bedroom to sit down, and another altercation occurred where he hit her two more times. Smith ran to the kitchen to find a knife to defend herself, but White blocked the drawer and pulled a butcher knife. White then pretended to cut her, causing her to scream. While she was screaming, White told her to be quiet, but she continued, prompting him to grab her from behind and strangle her to the point that she passed out.

When she passed out, White dragged her to the bedroom, where he locked the door and refused to let her out. White proceeds to tell Smith that he is going to do something to her family if she ever calls the police. Smith is able to make it into the living room, but White is right behind her and makes it to the front door before her. She grabs her belongings and asks him to move, to which he complies. Once Smith was outside, she began knocking on nearby doors. White begged her to stop knocking and told her he would take her home. Smith agreed and sat on the stairs next to the apartment. Once White went inside to get dressed, Smith went to the floor above theirs and knocked on other doors until one neighbor answered. The neighbor let her in and called 911 for her. Smith was transported to Sango ER due to a swollen right eye and possible jaw injury. Tyrone White was taken into custody and charged with aggravated domestic assault.

Corey Slinker caught with 87 grams of THC wax

18-year-old Corey Slinker was stopped at the Shell Gas Station on Dean Road on February 25th for illegal window tint on his white Ford Fusion. Officers made contact and noticed a strong odor of marijuana as they approached Slinker. When the officers brought up his tint, he stated it was 5%. They conducted a probable cause search of his vehicle and located a glass jar that weighed around 87 grams and was labeled “HEAD STASH” and “THC 76%.” The officers believed the substance inside the jar to be THC wax. Slinker took ownership and was taken into custody and charged with window tint and felony drugs.

43-year-old Antwaun Jones was involved in a domestic dispute with Casondra Nelson at their shared Ashford Place apartment on February 25th. When officers made contact with Nelson, she told them that Jones had been yelling and cussing at her all day. Jones’s aggression led to him shattering her red vase on the floor. He then said something about her being next, which placed Nelson in fear for her safety. Antwaun Jones was taken into custody and charged with vandalism.

25-year-old Jalan Gibson was involved in a domestic altercation with his now ex-girlfriend, Naomi Pfundi, at Lake Road on December 4th, 2023. Pfundi explained to law enforcement that when Gibson let himself in that morning, he started an argument with her in her bedroom. Amidst the argument, Gibson began to strangle Pfundi. When she got free, she walked to the kitchen, where Gibson slapped her in the face and followed her into the living room, where he hit her again. Pfundi provided law enforcement with video evidence of the altercation, as well as Gibson admitting to slapping her. Jalan Gibson was taken into custody and charged with aggravated domestic assault.

23-year-old Brian Booker was involved in a dispute with his mother, Mitzila Booker, at their shared Raleigh Court townhouse on February 20th. When officers arrived, Mitzila stated that Brian got angry with her, destroyed her makeup box, and smashed and poured her makeup into the bathroom sink. She then informed them that Brian had turned on every faucet in the house, causing minor flood damage. He also left every door to their home open before leaving. Mitzila told officers that this is not the first time Brian has done something like this and that she keeps a lock on her bedroom door for safety. Brian Booker was taken into custody and charged with vandalism.

DUI: Daniel Harmon flees after causing accident, woman life-flighted to Vanderbilt

26-year-old Daniel Harmon was involved in a car crash at the Zaxby’s on Fort Campbell Boulevard on February 24th. Witnesses called 911, stating that a white Jeep was involved in a crash and left the scene. Officers observed a gold Saturn with extensive damage to its rear when they arrived. An off-duty state trooper followed the Jeep and made contact with the owner, Daniel Harmon, to ensure he was okay. The trooper informed officers that he told Harmon to call 911, but he refused and drove off. Harmon was seen driving erratically up Fort Campbell Boulevard and getting out of his vehicle while it was still in motion to put the hood down.

He eventually came to a stop at the intersection of Robert and Charles Avenue, where officers caught up with him. Officers spoke with Harmon, who told them he was returning from golfing in Murfreesboro. When officers asked him about the crash, he stated that he knew he was in one and that he was trying to circle back around to the scene. He then admitted that he had drunk 2-3 drinks of “Captain.” Harmon refused to perform sobriety tests. Officers searched through Harmon’s car and found a half-empty bottle of Jameson.

The driver of the gold Saturn was life-flighted to Vanderbilt Hospital due to the severity of her injuries. Daniel Harmon was taken into custody and charged with an open container, leaving the scene with injury, and driving under the influence.

25-year-old Bryana McClendon was involved in an altercation with her boyfriend’s friend, Dixie Lyons, at the Days Inn Motel on January 21st. Lyons provided law enforcement with messages between her and her friend, Jeremiah Stacy, offering him money to hang out with her. Unbeknownst to Lyons, Stacy brought his girlfriend McClendon with him. Once Lyons opened the door, Mclendon punched her in the face, crossing the door threshold to do so. Officers observed bruising on Lyon’s face. Bryana McClendon was taken into custody and charged with aggravated burglary.

41-year-old Noe Martinez was involved in a domestic altercation with his girlfriend, Irene Torres, at Sugarcane Way on February 12th. During an argument between Martinez and Torres, Martinez became aggressive and pushed her several times. Martinez continued to push her on the way down the stairs and pushed her on her bed in the basement. Once on the bed, Torres was forced to start kicking and scratching Martinez to get him away from her. According to Torres, Martinez began throwing her belongings out of her room and into the hall.
